We all make decisions we wish we could take back. If you’re facing an unplanned pregnancy, have taken the abortion pill, and are now feeling unsure about your choice, you may still have time.

However, you must act quickly. Timing is critical if you hope to continue your pregnancy.

Abortion Pill Reversal (APR)

When you use the abortion pill method to end your pregnancy, abortion providers usually prescribe two drugs. The first drug, mifepristone, blocks the hormone progesterone from reaching the pregnancy.

The lack of progesterone causes the uterine lining to thin, so the pregnancy can no longer grow. Abortion Pill Reversal (APR) brings progesterone into your body to potentially offset the effects of mifepristone.

How Effective Is APR?

If you begin the process within 24 to 72 hours after taking mifepristone, studies have shown a 64% to 68% success rate when progesterone is administered as soon as possible.

Do not take the second drug, misoprostol. This second dose causes vaginal bleeding and contractions to expel the pregnancy and tissue from your body. It’s usually taken anywhere from 24 to 48 hours after mifepristone.

Even if you have taken misoprostol, reach out anyway. Sometimes, the abortion pills do not work even when taken as directed.

Is It Safe?

Progesterone is a natural hormone that supports pregnancy. It is also given to women who struggle with recurrent miscarriages. It is completely safe and necessary for a pregnancy.

However, if you have a peanut allergy, let your APR provider know immediately, as peanut oil is sometimes used in progesterone. Alternative forms of progesterone without peanut oil could be available to you.

What Do I Need to Do?

Call the 24/7 APR helpline at (877) 558-0333 or visit abortionpillreversal.com. A healthcare professional will ask questions to determine if reversal is possible. If yes, they will connect you with a medical provider to start treatment.

LaVie Health Clinic is here to support you during your pregnancy. While we recommend first reaching out to the APR helpline when seeking abortion pill reversal, we offer a variety of other free services for women wanting to confirm their pregnancy or further understand their options.
